Schools of Choice

The Collaborative Schools of Choice Program is a plan that offers parents and students a choice to attend other public schools in the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District outside their district of residence.  

School of Choice information for the 2018-2019 school year:

 

Students Living in Muskegon County (MAISD Collaborative Schools of Choice Program)

  • Parents may fill out a Schools of Choice request for each student who will be applying at http://bit.ly/socapp2018-19.  This link will be active April 9, 2018 - May 25, 2018.
  • If a parent is unable to fill out the online application, they should contact Stacey Brown at 231-893-1515 or browns@mapsk12.org to have an application mailed to them.  The completed application must be returned to the Central Office no later than Friday, May 25, 2018.

‚ÄčStudents Living Outside of Muskegon County (Schools of Choice 105c)

  • Students living outside of Muskegon County have until Friday, May 25, 2018 to complete the online application:  http://bit.ly/socapp2018-19.
  • If a parent is unable to fill out the online application, they should contact Stacey Brown at 231-893-1515 or browns@mapsk12.org to have an application mailed to them.  The completed application must be returned to the Central Office no later than Friday, May 25, 2018.

For the 18-19 school year, there are openings in these grade levels:

Young Fives and Kindergarten:  unlimited openings
1st Grade:  no openings
2nd Grade: 5 openings
3rd Grade:  5 openings
4th Grade:  no openings
5th Grade:  5 openings
6th grade - 12th grade:  unlimited openings

Transportation is not provided for students residing outside of the Montague Area Public School District.  Parents are expected to transport students to and from school on-time.  If you would like to inquire about the Montague Area Public School District bus stop closest to your house, contact the bus garage at 231-893-1535.

Parents will be notified of acceptance by July 1, 2018.  Note that a previous suspension or expulsion may result in your application being denied.
